Jianping Huang, male, was born in November, 1962. Jianping Huang is the distinguished professor of Lanzhou University, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Distinguished professor of Changjiang Scholars, Ministry of Education, and the academic leader of National Fund Committee innovation research group. He is the editor of theScientific ReportsandScientia Sinica: Geosciences. He is one of the lead authors of the fifth assessment report of the United Nations intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) working group, chief scientist of major national scientific research program, and the first Chinese doctoral degree winner with outstanding contributions. Also, Jianping Huang is the winner of the first "Zhao Jiuzhang Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Science Work Award", second prize winner of national natural science award (ranked first)and national outstanding scientific and technological worker and national innovation prize winner.
Jianping Huang has long focused on semi-arid climate change research. He took roots in western China and built the semi-arid climate observation system in China after more than ten years together with his group. The group has rapidly developed into the first national fund committee innovation research group in the semi-arid climate change field in China, the first key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, and the first innovation and intelligence introduction base of the Ministry of Education. He has made a series of Original research achievements with strong foundation and high influence.

6. Academic Achievements:
(1) Revealing of the interaction of dust aerosol, cloud and precipitation and the mechanism of its influence on arid climate in northwest China, which obtained the Second price of 2013 National Award for Natural Science in China (ranked first), the first Prize of the 2012 Gansu Natural Science Award (ranked first); (2) Extending the research horizon from northwestern China to the whole world, finding that the arid and semi-arid regions of the world are the regions with the most significant land temperature increase in the past century revealing the spatial and temporal characteristics and formation mechanism of global semi-arid climate change;(3) Establishment of the integrated observation system of semi-arid climate in China, which fills the gap of observation in this field.
